I knew my persistent love for trainers over girly shoes would pay off one day.
I have spent many years longingly admiring photos of my parents in their Reebok Classics and ELLESSE Ibizas of the 90's with dad telling me about the Adidas TRIMM TRABs he saved up for in 1983 and hoping that one day the sporty look would be cool again. After Karl Lagerfield dared to pair every single outfit- from pastel two pieces to sheer metallic cocktail dresses- with trainers in the Chanel Haute Couture show in Paris this January, trainers can finally be considered as high-fashion.
We had been waiting for this moment for a while, the last year or so the high street has been inundated with a fast moving stream of cult-status trainers, Nike Blazers...Nike Air Max...New Balance...Sneaker heels (this is one trainer variation that I sadly can not endorse)...Reebok Classics and so many more. This style has not only been fuelled by people like Cara Delevigne and Jourdan Dunn who are rarely seen in anything but trainers, there has also been a big change in catwalk clientelle and with people like Kanye West wearing a baseball cap on the front row at LFW, you no longer need to wear a blazer or heels to be vogue-worthy.
This year, Creative Director at Givenchy has for the first time collaborated with Nike to reinvent the sportswear brand's most iconic styles- the Airforce 1- and Simon Gao closed the curtain on LFW sending all of his models down the Catwalk in New Balances. Expect to see colourful lace ups with everything but a two stripe tracksuit this Spring.

Some of my favourites. From top to bottom: Nike Air Force 1 £67, Reebok Classics Limited Addition Lilac £65, Nike Air Vortex £45, New Balance £50. The first two pairs are on my wishlist...
TOPSHOP UNIQUE Topshop Unique was one of my favourite shows at LFW and I actually managed to stream it live at work! A palette of buttermilk, ginger, chestnut and champagne tones featured alongside offbeat pops of royal blue and scarlet. My favourite aspects of the show was the spring-like pastel-lemon coloured two-pieces contrasted with heavy fur. Opulence and embellishment featured on many of the models
MIU MIU Pastel coloured sports luxe at Miu Miu. Highlights of the show included pastel-lemon pleats and 90's look sports jackets.
